Govinda Biography
Early life
Govinda was born to former actor Aroon (alias Arun Kumar Ahuja) and singer-actress Nirmala Devi on December 21, 1963.
Govinda’s mother was from the Uttar Pradesh city of Varanasi. In the late 1930s, Aroon moved to Mumbai from Gujranwala, Pakistan, to pursue a career as an actor. The family migrated from Virar, a northern Mumbai district, where Govinda was born, from a bungalow on Mumbai’s Carter Road. He was the youngest of six children, and his nickname was “Chi Chi,” which means “little finger” in Punjabi.
