Early life
Bharti was born on February 25, 1974, in Saharanpur, to Om Prakash and Meeta Bharti. Kunal, her younger brother, and Poonam, her half-sister from Om Prakash Bharti’s previous marriage, were her siblings. Her cousin is actress Kainaat Arora. She was fluent in Hindi, English, and Marathi.
She was recognised for her cheery demeanour and doll-like appearance in her early years. In Juhu, Mumbai, she attended Maneckji Cooper High School. Bharti was a rambunctious student in school who reached the ninth grade before pursuing a career in acting.

After her marriage, she converted to Islam and changed her name to Sana Nadiadwala. The marriage was kept hidden to avoid jeopardising her successful film career.
Death
Bharti fell from the balcony window of her fifth-floor apartment in Tulsi Buildings, Versova, Andheri West, Bombay, in the late evening hours of 5 April 1993.
She was brought in an ambulance to Cooper Hospital’s emergency department, where she died, when her visitors Neeta Lulla, Neeta’s husband Shyam Lulla, Bharti’s maid Amrita Kumari, and neighbours realised what had happened.
She was 19 years old at the time. Her death was officially attributed to serious head trauma and internal haemorrhage. On April 7, 1993, she was cremated at the Vile Parle crematorium in Bombay.
