Ayesha Takia was born to a Gujarati Hindu father and a Kashmiri Muslim mother in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She attended Chembur’s St Anthony’s Girls High School. On March 1, 2009, she married restaurateur Farhan Azmi, the son of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, with whom she has a son.
