Initially in life
Michael was the name given to Lal when he was born to the late M. A. Paul and the late Philomina. Lal was Pauls’s oldest son.
His father, M. A. Paul, was a well-known player of the tabla. In the Malayalam film business, his brother Alex Paul is well-known for his work as a music composer, and in the same field, his son Jean has found success as a film director.
