The eldest son of K. Gopinathan Pillai, a film distributor, and V. Gnanalekshmi Amma, Suresh Gopi was born on June 26, 1958, in Kollam, Kerala, India. His younger brothers are Sanil Gopi, Sunil Gopi, and Subhash Gopi (the latter two are twins).
Suresh was raised in the Kollam region. His education was finished at Kollam’s Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School.
For further education, Suresh enrolled at Fatima Mata National College in Kollam. He has a Master of Arts in English literature and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology.
