Early life
Sinha was born to Bhubaneswari Prasad Sinha and Shyama Devi Sinha in Patna, Bihar. Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, and himself are the youngest of four brothers.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Patna Science College. He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune with a diploma in acting.

Khanna won the race by 25,000 votes over Sinha, but he was hurt and never spoke to Sinha again. Sinha attempted to mend his friendship with Khanna, but this did not happen till Khanna’s death in 2012.
During the 2009 Indian general elections, he won the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar. He defeated Shekhar Suman, another Bollywood star.
