Early career
Tye, who grew up in Perth’s northern suburbs, played second XI cricket for Somerset, Durham, and Northamptonshire before reaching his list.
At the age of 26, he made his Ryobi One-Day Cup debut in 2013–14. He got the second-most wickets in the competition and had the best single-inning bowling figures of 5 wickets for 46 runs in a match against Tasmania.
He signed with the Sydney Thunder for the 2013–14 Big Bash League season after his strong achievements in the One Day event. However, he shifted to the Perth Scorchers for the 2014–15 Big Bash League season.
