Early life and background
Akhil Akkineni was born in San Jose, California, to actors Nagarjuna and Amala Akkineni on April 8, 1994.
On his father’s side, he is Telugu, while on his mother’s side, he has Irish and Bengali ancestry. He is the half-brother of Naga Chaitanya and the grandson of actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
Akkineni attended Chaitanya Vidyalaya before spending two years in Australia. He returned to Hyderabad to finish his studies at Oakridge International School.
At the age of 16, he decided to pursue acting as a career and enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. He also holds a BBA from the University of South Florida.
Later in his adolescence, he took up cricket and played for his father’s Nag Kings in the 2010 celebrity Tollywood Trophy, a fundraiser for the Movie Artistes’ Association.
He won the man-of-the-match and man-of-the-series honors for his match-winning half-century in the final against Venkatesh’s Venky Warriors.
