Babi rose to prominence after playing Neela in the drama film Majboor (1974). Her debut came in 1975 when she played Anita, a prostitute in the action crime drama film Deewaar, which became a cult favourite and helped establish her as a leading lady.
She went on to star as Jenny in Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Anu in Suhaag (1979), Anita in Kaala Patthar (1979), Sheetal in The Burning Train (1980), Sunita in Shaan (1980), Shallini / Rani in Kaalia (1981), and Nisha in Namak Halaal (1981).
Other Works
Along with Hema Malini, Rekha, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Zeenat Aman, Reena Roy, and Raakhee, Parveen was one of the most successful actresses of her day. She appeared in eight films with Amitabh Bachchan, all of them were box office successes or super-hits.

Personal life
Babi was in a four-year relationship with Danny Denzongpa. She went on to date Kabir Bedi and then Mahesh Bhatt after that.
She eventually “disappeared” from the film industry in 1983, leaving no trace of her whereabouts, leading to wild speculation and pretentious allegations that she was “under the sway” of characters from the “underworld.”
Many of her completed films were released in the years following, up until her final picture, Akarshan, in 1988. In 1983, she began working as an interior decorator.
Death
She was discovered dead on January 22, 2005, after the police were notified by her residential society secretary that she had not received food or newspapers from her porch for three days.
She could have been dead for up to 72 hours before her body was discovered, according to the authorities. Her cause of death was unknown at the time of her death.
She was diagnosed with diabetic gangrene of the left foot, which was a consequence of her diabetes. A wheelchair, as well as a jumble of disorganised paintings, clothes, prescriptions, and old newspapers, were discovered near her bed.
It’s probable that a gangrenous foot rendered her unable to walk in her final days, necessitating the use of a wheelchair to get around her flat.
A post-mortem was performed at Cooper Hospital, and findings revealed that there were no traces of food in her stomach, although there was some alcohol (perhaps from her medicine), suggesting that she had gone without food for more than three days and died as a result of starvation. She died of severe organ failure and diabetes, according to the police, who ruled out foul play.
In popular culture
Babi’s former partner, Mahesh Bhatt, wrote and directed Arth (1982), a supposedly semi-autobiographical film about his relationship with Babi, and wrote and produced Woh Lamhe (2006), directed by his nephew Mohit Suri, based on his recollection and interpretation of his relationship with Babi with no input from her.
