Carole Penny Marshall was born on October 15, 1943, in the Bronx, New York City, to Marjorie Irene, a tap dance teacher and owner of the Marjorie Marshall Dance School, and Anthony “Tony” Masciarelli, subsequently Anthony Wallace Marshall, an industrial film director and eventually a producer.
