Early life and family
N. T. Rama Rao, a Telugu actor and three-time Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and his wife Basavatarakam gave birth to Balakrishna on June 10, 1960, in Madras (modern-day Chennai, Tamil Nadu).
He spent his entire youth in Madras because the Telugu cinema business was based there at the time. He migrated to Hyderabad during his teens after the Telugu film industry relocated there.
He graduated from Nizam College in Hyderabad with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. Balakrishna married Vasundhara Devi in 1982 when he was 22 years old, and they have three children.
