Early life and family
Jayam Ravi (born Mohan Ravi) was born in Tirumangalam, Madurai, to legendary film editor Mohan, a Tamil Muslim, and his mother, a Telugu from Andhra Pradesh.
His older brother, Mohan Raja, is a film director whose films frequently include Ravi in the major role, while his younger sister, Roja, is a dentist.
Ravi was born and raised in both Chennai and Hyderabad. He went to Jawahar Vidyalaya in Ashok Nagar, Chennai, for his education.
