Gautham Karthik is the son of actor Karthik and actress Ragini, who was his first wife. He is actor R. Muthuraman’s grandson.
When film director Mani Ratnam approached him, he had grown up in Udhagamandalam and had studied at Christ University in Bangalore.
Gautham had never worked in the film industry before. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology as well as an English and media degree. He was a guitarist and vocalist with the band Dead End Street in college.
