Primary source of Dimple Kapadia Net worth (Acting)
After declining an offer to portray the protagonist in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi in 1970, she was approached by Raj Kapoor in 1971, who was looking for a young, new female lead for his planned teen romance.
Munni Dhawan, a close friend of Kapoor’s, recommended that he consider Kapadia because he knew her father.
At the age of 14, Kapadia did a screen test for the film on the sets of one of Kapoor’s productions in June of that year.
Kapoor picked her in the role after being impressed by her spontaneity and improvisation. Bobby was the title of the picture, which was released in September 1973.
Rishi Kapoor played Raj Nath, the son of an affluent Hindu businessman, and Kapadia played Bobby Braganza, the teenage daughter of a Christian fisherman from Goa, in the film.
The plot depicts Raj and Bobby’s love affair despite his parents’ condemnation of their relationship owing to social prejudice.
Kapadia returned to film for minor roles in the action comedies Welcome Back (2015) and Dabangg 3 for the rest of the decade (2019). In Anees Bazmee’s Welcome Back, she co-starred alongside Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar as a conwoman.
Her role was described as an “embarrassing, protracted cameo” by Mihir Fadnavis of Hindustan Times, but Rajeev Masand noted her “droll” presence.
Her part as Naina Devi was briefly reprised in Dabangg 3, the third instalment of the Dabangg film series.
In Christopher Nolan’s spy thriller Tenet, Kapadia portrays arms trader Priya Singh.
Adajania shot her screen test for the role in 2019 before filming for Angrezi Medium began, and she then auditioned for Nolan in Mumbai.
Nolan picked Kapadia in the role after being impressed by her charisma and composure, believing she embodied his concept of the character.
The film was released in the midst of the epidemic to a worldwide audience and went on to become the fifth-highest grossing picture of 2020, grossing $364 million worldwide.
Kapadia’s performance was praised by critics; the Chicago Sun-Times’ Richard Roeper commented that she “quietly steals every scene she’s in,” while Variety’s Guy Lodge stated she gave the film’s “wiliest performance.”
Kapadia thanked Tenet for reigniting her interest in film acting after years of being a reluctant actress.
Kapadia attended St Joseph’s Convent High School in the Bombay suburb of Santacruz, where the family lived.
She described herself as maturing swiftly and making friends with children that were older than her. Her traditional family abandoned her father after she was cast in her first film, Bobby, in 1971.
After a brief courtship, she married actor Rajesh Khanna, who was 30 at the time. After being a fan of Khanna, she subsequently stated that the marriage was the “highest point” of her life at the time.
The wedding took place in her father’s bungalow in Juhu on March 27, 1973, six months before Bobby’s release, according to Arya Samaj traditions.
Kapadia discontinued acting after her marriage at her husband’s request. Twinkle and Rinke are her two daughters.
