Birmingham, Alabama, is where Cox was born and reared. Richard Lewis Cox, a businessman, and Courteney Copeland are her parents. Virginia and Dorothy are Cox’s older sisters, and Richard Jr. is Cox’s older brother. Her parents split in 1974, and her mother married Hunter Copeland, a businessman.
