Stepping stone into Simon Kjaer Net Worth (Career)
Kjaer, who was born in Horsens, began playing football at the age of four. As a result, he joined a small-time club in Horsens called Lund IF before joining the youth team of Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland in 2004, where his father was the team manager.
Along with Midtjylland colleagues Jesper Weinkouff, Christian Sivebk, and former teammate Winston Reid, he was one of the first players to graduate from FCM’s football academy, the first of its kind in Denmark.
Kjaer began his career as a midfielder until being moved to defense by one of his coaches, where he remains to this day. In April 2006, Kjaer was crowned the top player in a French youth tournament while still in the club system. Midtjylland later turned down bids from Lille OSC for Kjaer and Jesper Juelsgrd as a result of this.
Primary source of Simon Kjaer Net worth (Football)
Kjaer signed a five-year contract with Italian club Palermo in February 2008, which began in the summer of 2008 and cost Midtjylland €4 million. He was introduced at the club’s news conference on June 5, 2008, with the new acquisition of Andrea Raggi.
On June 30, 2010, VfL Wolfsburg reported that they had begun negotiations with Kjaer. It came amid reports of interest from clubs all across Europe, including Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur in England, as well as Juventus in Italy. On July 8, 2010, the club announced the signing of Kjaer for an unknown amount reported to be in excess of £10 million.
Kjaer became the most expensive Danish footballer of all time as a result of the purchase. With an annual salary of roughly €3 million, Kjaer became one of the best paid Danish footballers after making the switch from Serie A to Bundesliga.
Both national coach Morten Olsen and the player agreed that the move to Wolfsburg was not only financially feasible but also a step in the correct direction for the young Danish defender’s development.
On September 19, 2006, Kjaer made his only debut for Denmark U18 in a 4–1 triumph over Slovakia U18. At the age of 17, he made his debut for the Danish national under-19 football team on September 6, 2006, beating Portugal U19 3–2.
Until October 2007, he played 10 games for the under-19s, scoring one goal, and was voted 2007 Danish under-19 talent of the year by the under-19s coach, who saw Kjaer as a talented defender despite his youth. Kjaer was rested from the under-19s in March 2008 after his breakthrough with Midtjylland to avoid burning him out.
In February 2009, Kjaer was called up to the senior Danish national team after national team coach Morten Olsen was delighted by his performance for Palermo and saw him and Per Krldrup as primary contenders to replace retired defender Martin Laursen.
Kjaer speaks five languages, including English and Italian, in addition to Danish (having learned the language from his time at Palermo). He admired John Terry and Fabio Cannavaro as a kid and was a Liverpool fan. While his father encouraged him to pursue a career in football, his mother, a teacher, was not.
Despite his dislike of studying, Kjaer was able to complete his education and get his diploma. Camilla, his long-term partner, was his bridesmaid. They’ve been friends since they were fifteen years old.
They eventually broke up, and Kjaer began a relationship with Elina Gollert, a Swedish national, at some point. Milas and Viggo, their two children, were born to them as a couple. They married in the summer of 2017.
