Family and childhood
Shiva Rajkumar was the first of five children born to actor Rajkumar and film producer Parvathamma in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu.
Raghavendra, a film producer, and Puneeth, an actor, are his two brothers. Shiva went to T. Nagar School and later to New College in Chennai for his education.
Shiva enrolled in an acting school in Chennai after graduating from Madras University in 1983, at the request of film director K. Balachander.
He made his debut in the Kannada cinema business with Anand after training in Kuchipudi dancing form under Vempetti Chinni Sathyam in Chennai during his college days.
