Early years
Staubach was the only child of Elizabeth and Robert Staubach and was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He grew up in Silverton, a northern suburb of Cincinnati, and is of partly German origin.
He was a Boy Scout as a kid, went to St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, and graduated in 1960 from Cincinnati’s Catholic high school, Purcell High School (now known as Purcell Marian High School).
