Early life
Ranganathan Madhavan was born on June 1, 1970, to a Tamil Brahmin family in Jamshedpur, Bihar (now Jharkhand), India.
His father, Ranganathan Iyengar, worked for Tata Steel as a management executive, while his mother, Saroja, worked for the Bank of India as a manager.
