Biography of Luka Modric
Luka Modric was born on September 9, 1985, in the hamlet of Modric, which is part of Zaton Obrovaki, a settlement located on the southern slopes of Mount Velebit, north of Zadar in SR Croatia, then a republic inside SFR Yugoslavia.
He is the oldest child of Stipe Modri of Modric and Radojka Dopu of Kruevo near Obrovac, both of whom worked at a knitwear factory at one point.
Modric spent most of his childhood at the stone cottage of his paternal grandpa, after whom he was named, which was located on the road above the hamlet of Modric, and as a five-year-old was shepherding goats.
