Biography of Kimi Raikkonen
Räikkönen was born in the Finnish city of Espoo. From the age of ten, he had a long history of karting success. When he was 15, he competed in his first race outside of Finland, in Monaco.

In a first-lap collision, Räikkönen was flung onto the wrong side of the safety fence, but he continued driving until he ran out of the road.
He lifted his kart back onto the track and started racing, undeterred. Räikkönen was supposed to have retired by his technician, but he finally caught up to the other competitors and finished third. He won the Nordic Championship in Varna, Norway, in 1998.
