Joan, a retired accountant, and John “Jack” Slattery, a leather dealer, raised Slattery in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the youngest of six siblings.
Slattery was reared Catholic and is of Irish origin. He attended Saint Sebastian’s School in Needham, Massachusetts, and graduated from The Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1984.
