Early years
Farron Bromfield was born in the city of South Bend in the state of Indiana. He lettered in football, baseball, track, and swimming at Saint Mary’s College of California, where he also was a boxing champion. He got his initial performing experience at the La Jolla Playhouse in the 1940s.

Bromfield was cast as Frank Morgan, a law enforcement officer in the syndicated western crime drama series The Sheriff of Cochise, and its offshoot, U.S. Marshal, in 1956.
When the show first aired, the real sheriff of Cochise County at the time, Jack Howard, paid a visit to the set and appointed Bromfield as an honorary deputy.

He was also divorced from Larri Thomas, an actress, and dancer. He was married for 43 years to his fourth wife, actress/dancer, and novelist Mary Ellen Bromfield.
Death
Bromfield died of renal failure on September 18, 2005, in Palm Desert, California, at the age of 83.
