Biography of Jofra Archer
Jofra Chioke Archer was born in Bridgetown, Barbados, on April 1, 1995. Frank Archer, his father, is English, and Joelle Waithe, his mother, is Barbadian. Through his father, he is a British citizen.
He moved to England in 2015 and would not have been able to play for England until the winter of 2022 at the earliest.
Because he did not live in England until after his 18th birthday, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) required him to fulfil a seven-year residency period.
Archer represented the West Indies Under-19s three times in 2014, but he had stated that once his residence period was through, he would be eligible to England.
The ECB, however, announced a revision to its rules in November 2018, cutting the eligibility period from seven to three years to comply with ICC regulations.
