Bhuvneshwar Kumar was born on February 5, 1990, in Meerut. When he was 13, his sister pushed him to play cricket and accompanied him to his first coaching centre.

He was signed by Pune Warriors India in 2011, however after the team was disbanded in 2014, he signed with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
