Biography of Bharat Bhushan
Bharat Bhushan was born on June 14, 1920, in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, to a Vaishya (Baniya) family. Raibahadur Motilal, his father, was the government pleader of Meerut.

When he was two years old, his mother died. Ramesh Chandra, his older brother, was a film producer who operated the Ideal Studio in Lucknow. Following their mother’s death, the brothers travelled to Aligarh to live with their grandfather.
He studied at Dharam Samaj College in Aligarh and graduated with a master’s degree. Following that, he began acting against his father’s desires. He first travelled to Calcutta to work in the film industry before settling in Bombay.

In the early 1960s, shortly after the premiere of the film Barsaat Ki Raat, Bhushan’s wife Sarla died of labour problems after giving birth to their second child. He married Ratna, his co-star in the same film, in 1967.
Ratna was a well-known actress who appeared in a number of films as the heroine’s sister or friend. Trishna, the serial in which she played the mother of four little girls, was one of her most memorable TV appearances. It was a Pride and Prejudice adaption.
His daughter Aparajita claimed in an interview that after her husband died suddenly, she turned to acting. Aparajita has appeared in over 50 films and television series.
