Early life
Asha Parekh was born in Gujarat on October 2, 1942. Sudha alias Salma Parekh, her mother, was a Bohra Muslim, and Bachubhai Parekh, her father, was a Hindu Gujarati.
Her mother enrolled her in Indian classical dance training when she was a child, and she studied under a variety of instructors, including Pandit Bansilal Bharati.
