Thomas Arthur Darvill was born on June 17, 1982, in Birmingham, England. Ellie, his mother, is an actor who travelled the world using masks, puppets and live acting as a member of Cannon Hill Theatre at the Midlands Arts Centre throughout his early childhood.
She is also the puppeteer and voice of Why Bird from the animated series Playdays. Nigel, his father, played the Hammond organ for Edwin Starr, Ruby Turner, Fine Young Cannibals, and UB40, among others. From 1993 until 2000, Darvill attended Bromsgrove School in Worcestershire.
