On April 25, 1940, Alfredo James Pacino was born in New York City’s East Harlem area. Rose Gerardi and Salvatore Pacino, both Italian-Americans, are his parents. When he was two years old, his parents divorced.
He subsequently relocated to the Bronx with his mother to live with her parents, Kate and James Gerardi, who were Sicilian Italian immigrants from Corleone. Pacino’s father was born in San Fratello, Sicily, and migrated to Covina, California, to work as an insurance salesman and restaurateur.
