Stepping stone into Rekha Net Worth (Career)
Kuljeet Pal, a Nairobi-based businessman, came to Gemini Studios in late 1968 looking for a novice for his new project Anjana Safar (an adaptation of H. Rider Haggard’s 1885 classic King Solomon’s Mines). After Vanisri, he discovered Rekha in the studio and cast her as the film’s second female lead.

Pal went to Pushpavalli’s residence to give Rekha a screen test, dictating a series of Hindi words that Rekha rewrote in Latin script and then instructed her to memorize. Rekha finished the phrases a few moments later, and Pal was impressed by her natural Hindi-speaker-like voice.
Primary source of Rekha Net worth (Acting)
In 1969, Rekha relocated to Bombay (now Mumbai) and took a room at the Hotel Ajanta in the city’s Juhu neighbourhood, with Pal covering the cost. In the same year, she made her public and media debut with the successful Kannada film Operation Jackpot Nalli C.I.D 999, starring Dr Rajkumar, in which she played a lead role for the first time.

She played Sunita in Raja Nawathe’s film Anjana Safar, in which she was compelled by her father to travel to Africa in quest of a secret fortune. She received a monetary reward of 25,000 (US$350) for her efforts.
Rekha was escorted by her aunt to the shooting, which began in August of that year at Mehboob Studio because her mother was ill at the time. Due to censorship issues, the picture was not released until 1979, when it was renamed Do Shikaari. Do Shikaari had a poor box office performance.
More Works
Rekha received other proposals after that, but none of them was substantial, as her roles were largely that of a glamour girl. During the decade, she worked on an average of 10 films per year, most of which were deemed potboilers and failed to further her career in terms of roles and acclaim.

She appeared in several commercially successful films at the time, including Raampur Ka Lakshman (1972), Kahani Kismat Ki (1973), and Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye (1974).
In 1975, she plays Sheetal, Rakesh Roshan’s wife, in the war film Aakraman. Dharam Karam is a hoodlum drama directed by Randhir Kapoor, and according to Link magazine, Rekha is the most “pathetic” character in the film.
Dharmatma, a mafia film, was her only commercial success of the year. Feroz Khan directed and starred in the film, in which she played Anu, Khan’s childhood sweetheart.
Turning point
Rekha’s breakthrough came in 1978 when she starred in the social drama Ghar as a rape victim. She portrays Aarti, a newlywed who suffers severe trauma after being gang-raped.
With the support of her husband (Vinod Mehra), the film depicts her character’s struggle and traumatization. The picture was her first significant achievement, and both critics and audiences praised her performance. At the Filmfare Awards, she garnered her first nomination for Best Actress.
In the same year, her other film, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, became the year’s biggest hit as well as one of the decade’s biggest hits, cementing Rekha’s place as one of the most successful actresses of the period.
The film was well-received by critics, and Rekha’s brief appearance as a tawaif named Zohrabai got her a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Karmayogi was another film released that year.
Personal life and off-screen work
Rekha married Mukesh Aggarwal, a Delhi-based industrialist, in 1990. Aggarwal was a self-made businessman and the founder of the Hotline cookware line.
He is thought to have struggled with depression for a long time, and according to Rekha’s biographers, she only learned of his mental condition after they married.
She was rumoured to have married actor Vinod Mehra in 1973, but she denied it in a 2004 television interview with Simi Garewal, referring to him as a “well-wisher.”
She was also linked to Amitabh Bachchan after they first worked together in Do Anjaane and then in Silsila. Rekha presently resides in Mumbai’s Bandra neighbourhood.
