Biography of Shakib Al Hasan
Early years and youth cricket
Shakib, who was born in Magura, Khulna, began playing cricket at a young age. Shakib impressed an umpire during one of those matches, and he was invited to practise with the Islampur Para Club, a team in the Magura Cricket League.

Shakib batted aggressively and bowled quickly during the practise session like he normally did, but he also tried out spin bowling, which did not work out.
He was selected to play for Islampur and took a wicket with his first ball; it was his first delivery with a true cricket ball since he had previously only used a taped tennis ball.

Indian Premier League
Despite being classified as the world’s top-ranked ODI all-rounder at the time, Shakib was not chosen by any of the eight teams in the player auction conducted the following month for the 2009 Indian Premier League, and no bids were made for him.
“I would have been a lot happy if Shakib had gotten a team because he absolutely earned it for his amazing form with the bat and ball,” said Mashrafe Mortaza, who was bought in the auction by the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Shakib also failed to find a buyer at the 2010 IPL auction, which was surprising given his prominence in international cricket at the time.
Bangladesh Premier League
In 2012, the Bangladesh Cricket Board launched the Bangladesh Premier League, a six-team Twenty20 tournament set to take place in February of that year. Shakib has been designated as the ‘icon player’ for the Khulna Royal Bengals by the BCB (KRB).
Shakib’s team advanced to the semi-finals of the competition under his captaincy but were defeated by Dhaka Gladiators despite Shakib’s 86* off 41 balls.
He scored 280 runs and took 15 wickets in ten matches, making him KRB’s leading wicket-taker and earning him Man of the Tournament honours.
Personal life
Shakib earned his bachelor’s degree in English from the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
On December 12, 2012, he married Umme Ahmed Shishir, a Bangladeshi American. Shakib was playing county cricket for Worcestershire in England when the couple met in 2010.
Their first daughter, Alayna Aubrey Hasan, was born on November 8, 2015, followed by Errum Hasan on April 24, 2020, and Eyzah Al Hasan on March 16, 2021.
Philanthropy
Since 2020, Shakib has established a charitable foundation called SAHF (Shakib Al Hasan Foundation) to continue his philanthropic activity.
