Lewandowski was born in Warsaw and raised in the Warsaw West County town of Leszno. He began his football career as an unregistered player for Partyzant Leszno, a small team. In 1997, he joined MKS Varsovia Warsaw, where he spent seven years as a teenager. He went to the 4th tier side Delta Warsaw the following year, where he eventually made it into the first squad, scoring four goals before the conclusion of the season.
