Early life
On February 7, 1965, Christopher Julius Rock was born in Andrews, South Carolina. His parents moved to the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York, shortly after he was born. They moved to Bedford–Stuyvesant, a working-class neighborhood, a few years later.
Rosalie Rock worked as a teacher and a social worker for the mentally ill, while Julius Rock worked as a truck driver and newspaper deliveryman. Julius passed away in 1988 after undergoing ulcer surgery.
