Early life
Andy Lau was born in Tai Po, Hong Kong, to a firefighter father, Lau Lai. He was the family’s fourth child, with three older sisters, one younger sister, and Lau Tak-sing, his younger brother.
His family was considered wealthy because his grandpa was a landowner, but when he was six years old, his father abandoned him in the slums of Diamond Hill, where he lived in a wooden house that was burned down when he was eleven.
