Fleetwood Mac Biography
Peter Green’s departure from the British blues group John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers led to the formation of Fleetwood Mac in July 1967 in London, England. Green had previously taken the place of Bluesbreakers guitarist Eric Clapton and had won praise for his contributions to their record A Hard Road. Green recommended Mick Fleetwood as a replacement for drummer Aynsley Dunbar when Dunbar left the Bluesbreakers to join the new Jeff Beck/Rod Stewart band.

Green’s replacement in their live performances and on their recordings fell to Kirwan and Spencer. Kiln House, Fleetwood Mac’s fourth studio album, was released in September 1970.
While Spencer’s compositions on the album centered on recreating the country-tinged “Sun Sound” of the late 1950s, Kirwan’s tunes steered the band in the direction of rock. After one unsuccessful solo album, Christine Perfect left the music industry and participated to Kiln House by playing keyboards and performing backup vocals (uncredited).
The album cover was also drawn by her. She was asked to join the band since they were evolving and creating a new sound after Kiln House and needed someone to assist fill in the rhythm section.
In the UK and some other European nations, they issued a single, Danny Kirwan’s “Dragonfly” b/w “The Purple Dancer,” but despite favorable reviews in the media, it was not a commercial success. Only once, on a Reprise “Best of” album available in German and Dutch, was the B-side republished. On April 19, 2014, the single was re-released for Record Store Day (RSD) in both Europe and the United States on transparent purple vinyl.
Unleashed tour and Extended Play
It was suggested in March 2008 that Sheryl Crow and Fleetwood Mac would collaborate in 2009. The two had previously worked together, and Crow had said that Stevie Nicks had been a terrific teacher and inspiration to her. Later, according to Buckingham, the proposed partnership with Crow “lost its momentum” and was shelved.
